Reporting to the Purchasing and Fleet Manager, The Senior Fleet Officer is responsible for the effective national management, governance and continuous improvement of Silverchain’s vehicle fleet.The role ensures the fleet is safe, compliant, cost-effective, sustainable and fit for operational purpose. It provides fleet subject matter expertise and leads fleet planning, policy implementation, vehicle lifecycle management, supplier performance, compliance oversight, risk management, budgeting, reporting and improvement initiatives.

What we're looking for 

To thrive in this role, you'll need: 

  • Substantial experience in fleet management, asset management, transport operations, procurement or a related function.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a geographically dispersed fleet or comparable asset portfolio.
  • Experience in fleet governance, compliance, risk and vehicle lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated supplier and contract performance management experience.

 

The role

As the Senior Fleet Officer, you will:

  • Lead the effective management of Silverchain’s national vehicle fleet.
  • Oversee vehicle acquisition, allocation, transfer, replacement and disposal.
  • Develop and maintain the national vehicle replacement and lifecycle plan.
  • Assess vehicle requirements and recommend appropriate vehicle types, specifications and allocation models.
  • Monitor fleet availability, utilisation, condition, safety and operating costs.
  • Resolve significant or recurring fleet issues affecting operational service delivery.
  • Ensure fleet arrangements remain aligned with changing business and workforce requirements.
  • Manage the day-to-day commercial relationship with the Fleet Management Organisation and key fleet suppliers.
  • Prepare the proposed fleet operating budget (in conjunction with the Finance team), vehicle replacement forecast and lifecycle plan for consideration by the Purchasing and Fleet Manager.
